You may have noticed that HumptyLabel patterns do not use button hole closures very often. This is because Humpty Label formats patterns to be QUICK and EASY and button holes are not. I have a precise method I use for making button holes for myself now, but in the past I have ruined garments at the end, after all my efforts, because of a stupid button hole disaster. Even today, I break into a sweat when it is time to add the button holes. I don’t want you folks to experience this stress when couch-cutting the enjoyable projects offered on www.HumptyLabel.com. These projects are cathardic as well as resulting in a great fashion piece.
If you know of a way to REALLY produce quick and easy button holes, I would love for you to share it with everyone. Contact me here
Here is how I make perfect button holes now: I use my VIKING embroidery machine and digitizing software. I digitize the entire row of identical cut-and paste button holes spaced out exactly as needed. This is not QUICK nor EASY because after this, the project must be “hooped” which presents its own set of challenges. But the results are perfect. I have a stack of garments waiting for their button holes.
Incidentally, I ALWAYS use the button hole presser foot for everything. It never comes off the machine. It has measurement lines and is small and I can switch to a zig-zag stitch any time without hunting for another foot.
