I have embroidered little flowers on the hearts. I have added a gem to the center, I have tied the rope with decorative knots, and of course I have cut them from pretty fabrics. The construction of this pattern is more than just something on a string. It has a loop and button back closure to stay with the fabric theme. The rope is curved to fit the neck instead of a simple straight rope. There is some hand-sewing involved but well worth the effort. These make great gifts.
